While the title above may lead you to believe there is some kind of sexual connotation to the subject at hand, very little is being referenced. In the literal sense, those that choose to kneel during the Star Spangled Banner have every right as an American citizen to do so.
If fighting racial division is somehow being done by kneeling during the National Anthem, then this kind of silent protest is positive (I guess). But you don’t need to agree with it and you don’t need to like it. While more athletes follow in the footsteps of Colin Kaepernick I must issue the following warning: this Sunday is September 11th.
Yes, that’s right. The first full Sunday of NFL games is September 11th. If you are a fucking human being and have feelings then you know better. You remember where you were on that day. You remember how you felt and it still makes you feel to see footage of that horrific day. If you kneel during the National Anthem on September 11th then you should be fined. Fuck your civil liberties and free speech. Fuck your ideals and fight for equality.
If you take what I’m saying out of context and make everything into a racist rant then you have already made up your mind. If you believe that every time someone says, ” I don’t mean to sound like a dick but….” means that person means to sound like a dick then you aren’t going to change your mind. But while the gesture of kneeling has a bigger-picture call for change that is long overdue. This is a day where everyone was effected: poor, rich, homeless, sick, flourishing, privileged, anyone, everyone, and everyone who knew them. So don’t make this day about something it’s not. Have some respect for your country.
