If you immediately thought of the obnoxious song that Scheana from Vanderpump Rules sang a couple seasons ago then you’ve probably already lost any ability to think straight at this point. But further down the California coastline Kevin Durant has found a new home with the Golden State Warriors.
After being courted by many of the NBA’s elite franchises, Durant has surprised us all by picking the Warriors over the only franchise he has known in his career, the Oklahoma City Thunder (with a year as the Seattle Sonics). Now he’s set to line up alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and whoever else gets the unfortunate distinction of having to start with this group.
Stephen Curry will now have the 4th highest annual salary. But don’t feel bad for little Steph, he’s a free agent after next season and will likely command even more than the 27-plus million that this two year contract will be paying Kevin Durant.
Needless to say, this hurts OKC and who knows what they will do with their current roster/how they will attempt to build around Russell Westbrook and the rest of the young talent they have on hand. One thing we do know is that this is going to be another interesting season as the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James have a distinctly tougher road to repeat as champs.
