Hang Man

Twenty-seven year old Italian actor Raphael Schumacher died on Friday in an apparent accidental hanging while in staged act of theater. A medical student in the audience noticed the knot was tied a little too tight and Schumacher was struggling.

How does something like this happen in acting? How can it be prevented? And why is it so important to method act or whatever the fuck this was? You’d assume someone would’ve thought about that before going ahead and staging a hanging in front of a live audience.

Even if it was Schumacher himself that wanted authenticity and thus tightened the rope, there’s little reason something like that should have gone on long enough for someone with any reasonable sense to notice it and do something. Hopefully they figure out how to keep that shit from ever happening again.
