College College Pick ‘Em Week 8

With a 6-4 Week 7 that featured 3 losses between 3 points or less, picking college games just doesn’t give any breaks. Still, this week gives me some hope. Here’s what’s on tap for Week 8 in College Pick ‘Em:

Georgia at Arkansas. Todd Gurley or not, the Dawgs showed just how deep and talented they are last week. If Hutson Mason can make some plays without giving away too much then winning on the road against the Razorbacks isn’t going to be tough. Georgia 24, Arkansas 13

Texas A & M at Alabama. The Tide has a defense. The Aggies don’t. Is there any other way to look at this one? Alabama 21, Texas A & M 10

Stanford at Arizona State. I really like what the Sun Devils have going for their program right now. But nothing about their team screams “elite program”, which is something that the Cardinal have been and continue to be going forward. If Stanford can be successful running the ball they should be just fine. Stanford 27, Arizona State 24

A big game from Everett Golson could go a long way.

Notre Dame at Florida State. Both teams seem like a bit of smoke and mirrors. With Jameis Winston looking to a short-term lock to play, but not much of a Heisman candidate beyond that and Everett Golson playing well but not over the top against shaky opposition, the game doesn’t have the glitz and glamour that it probably should. Expect to see a good bit of offense along with some dramatic. Florida State 49, Notre Dame 44

Missouri at Florida. Two tweener teams with questionable star-potential meet in Gainesville. The Gators defense will come to play and that will be the difference. Maty Mauk will be a big name next year. This year he’s still way too inconsistent to get the job done. Florida 24, Missouri 10

Trevone Boykin better show out if he wants a repeat of this.

Oklahoma State at TCU. The Cowboys have always had a high-octane offense much like the Horned Frogs of TCU. While I want to take the road team here just because these two teams are tough to figure out, TCU has just been all over the place in games but their offense has never skipped a beat. Boykin will have another big game. TCU 41, Oklahoma State 30

UCLA at California. The Golden Bears have been much better than last year and playing at home gives them a chance to win this game. UCLA is just too tough on both sides of the ball to not run away with this one. Brett Hundley needs a game to redeem himself. UCLA 38, California 21

Kansas State at Oklahoma. K-State got beat up by Auburn in a huge out of conference game. They will win several games and play in a big bowl game. But the Sooners high-powered offense is too good and won’t make costly drops late in the game (cough, cough Tyler Lockett). Oklahoma 28, Kansas State 17

Virginia at Duke. Both are proud academic institutions that come into this game with tons going for them. Virginia has done the better work off the field while recruiting some of the top classes in the ACC year to year, but Duke has made the most progress on the field. Duke 31, Virginia 28

Iowa at Maryland. It’s tough to know what may happen for Maryland going forward. They had the talent to hang with Ohio State but got blown out. With Caleb Rowe out for the season CJ Brown has to be the man. Meanwhile, Iowa has been overachieving since a very slow start to the season. Iowa 34, Maryland 24
